When Portland cement is mixed with enough water
to form a paste, the compounds of the Portland
cement react and combine with the water forms a
slowly developing cementious crystalline
structure, which adheres to and binds together
the intermixed sand and stone particles into a
hardened mass. |

Concrete dries from the center outward. Richey
Construction will try and keep the slab surface
moist while it cures to minimize cracking but as
the concrete dries, it shrinks and can pull in
different directions. In most cases, Welded Wire
Fabric or FiberMesh placed in the slab will
prevent wider cracks, but have little effect on
what we call temperature cracks. |

FiberMesh is a product that is added to the mix
that strengthens and reduces the hairline cracks
during freezing and thin cycles. |
